This $50,000 endowed fund provides financial support to graduate or undergraduate students to pursue a formal program of study in Modern Greek (MG) language and/or research in Greece in any academic field requiring the intensive use of MG. It may cover study abroad fees, travel expenses, and any additional educational expenses (including books). The fund is restricted to a student (from any department at Ohio State who has attained a level of competence in MG beyond the first year of instruction by taking at least two courses in the MG language program at Ohio State, housed in the Department of Classics, or is a graduate student in the MG program. Outreach Activity – The 4th Annual Modern Greek Program Greek School Event. This Fall semester (11/14/2015) the Ohio State Modern Greek Program hosted students ages 8-13 from the Greek School of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral and their parents. Ohio State students enrolled in Modern Greek language courses presented their work, taught some Greek language exercises, and encouraged the younger students in their study of Greek.
This is the fourth year of this community outreach activity of the Modern Greek Program with the local language school. Dr. Christopher Brown organized and coordinated the event.

OSU Modern Greek Program Launches Endowed Chair Initiative
It is with great pleasure that we announce a major fundraising initiative to endow a Chair in Modern Greek Studies at The Ohio State University, a position that will ensure the research and teaching of Modern Greek language and culture, including issues related to the Greek diaspora, in perpetuity.
Neohellenists, alumni, and scholars who have benefited from the research produced by one of the first Modern Greek programs in the United States are invited to contribute to this initiative.
The support of friends of Greek learning in the United States is paramount for the success of this initiative.
